Sunset Foods - Blog

For over 75 years, consumers have flocked to Sunset Foods for grocery essentials, and occasional splurges. This family-owned business has grown, but never lost sight of their customers. Every marketing effort is developed with the customers in mind - what would make their lives easier? What do customers really care about?

It all started with a blog. Sunset Foods had had a blog for several years - but no one knew about it. It was time to make their blog a go-to stop on any given internet surfing day.

That's where I came in, creating articles that were written in a friendly and engaging manner on timely topics. From how to host a relaxed holiday feast to how to light a grill; from how to store produce to make it last longer to how to enjoy the flavors of your garden through the winter. I have covered it all.

Most recently, I have piqued interest with the Recipe of the Week, a highly visual, step-by-step instructional post that gives consumers all the info they need to make an easy and delicious weeknight meal at home. Readership is up from 20 people/week to well over 400. These posts are not only gaining likes on facebook, they are appearing on Pinterest boards as well. So the blog is definitely on consumers' radars.

Here are snapshots of some of my favorite posts to date:

très jolie pâtisserie - Website

Aside from writing copy, I also happen to be a pastry chef with a business called très jolie pâtisserie. When it was time to launch my website, I partnered with an extraordinary art director friend who helped me create my logo, and make my vision for the site a reality. Copy of course was personally handled by me :)

United Airlines - My Mileage Plus Website Redesign, Tutorial

In 2010, United Airlines decided to dramatically change the look of the My Mileage Plus website. The redesign would leverage their image library to create a consistent look across all communication platforms, as well as update the tone to reflect the new voice of United Airlines.

Once the new look was established, we needed to create a clean and simple way of walking members through the new site so they would know where to find the information they were looking for. The screen shots that follow are examples of this tutorial.

Welcome Page - explains the new and improved My Mileage Plus, and invites members to have a look around the site.

Mileage Statement - Second to booking travel, this is the main draw for members. They want to know how close they are to attaining the next level of elite status, or to redeeming an award.

Earn and Use Miles - Here we identify the new icons members will encounter when trying to redeem or earn miles.

New locations - Here we walk members through familiar content that has changed - program names and/or content locations - to make navigating the new site seamless.
